Vision, Mission & Core Values

Vission

A democratic, secular, pluralistic and inclusive Bangladesh free of discrimination that promotes sustainable development for all its citizens and where equality in exercising rights, use and control over land and other natural resources for all is realized

Mission

ALRD’s mission is to create an enabling environment through which it aims to:

1. Ensures a pro-poor, gendered, inclusive of indigenous peoples and all other marginalized communities’ policy changes in land and natural resources ownership and management based on the principles of equity and justice by carrying out advocacy and research activities.

2. Empowers peoples and communities by means of networking, research, mobilization, information dissemination, legal support, capacity building and awareness raising of partners and stakeholders at local and national levels.

3. Foster solidarity, alliance and collaboration amongst organizations and networks at regional and international levels towards sustainable use of earth’s resources against increasing over-exploitation by neo-liberal trade regimes.

Core Values

For implementation of the Strategic Plan, ALRD will be guided by the following values which comprise its organizational raison d’être;

1. We are gender sensitive and believe in gender equality, reflected in all aspects of our work

2. We uphold democratic principles based on equal participation of all and ensure transparency and accountability through our collective self-analysis.

3. We actively promote and uphold cultural pluralism and diversity reflective of a multi-ethnic, multi-faiths and multi-cultural Bangladesh.

4. We passionately believe in the conservation of Mother Nature’s bountiful resources and respect the preservation of our traditional indigenous knowledge, values and practices.

5. Our activism is rooted in our staunch belief in mutually respectful engagement with the marginalized, disadvantaged communities and physically challenged persons.
