“When S4HL campaign first came to my village and organized a community dialogue, I never imagined I would one day become part of it. But one thing struck me deeply during that session—the realization that Hindu women have no legal inheritance rights in our country. That revelation stayed with me. I began attending community meetings and eventually received land literacy training through the campaign.

Today, even Muslim women approach me for guidance on inheritance laws or ask me to mediate disputes regarding land distribution—despite knowing I’m a Hindu woman. I never expected such a transformation in my life, from being a housewife to becoming someone women turn to for support and advice. Now, every week I visit the agriculture and land offices to assist women to get their rights.

Whenever I have the opportunity at the local level, I advocate for the legal recognition of Hindu women’s inheritance rights. I even raised this issue before a minister during a seminar in Dhaka. I remain hopeful that legal reform will come, and that one day I’ll be able to help both Hindu and Muslim women secure their rightful share of inherited land.”
